For years I vowed to NEVER wear my natural hair! In my late 20s I discovered sew ins, then beautiful, flawless wigs and for almost 12 years, I hid my hair away and adopted the Brazilian bob as my truth.
Shamefully, I remember washing and detangling my hair one day and shouting, “I HATE MY HAIR!”
The wigs were beautiful, but grew tired of wearing those hats on my head every time I wanted to step out. I wanted to wear my own hair, but to me, it looked unkept. It made me feel flawed, look older, boring.
BUT I WANTED TO BE NATURALLY ME!!!
In order to do this, I needed backup! So I called my confident, natural, wise, beautiful, chocolate skinned, elder sister and asked her to be my accountability partner! She accepted and left me with these beautiful words: “Sis, you’ve just got to embrace your natural reflection.”
So for 6 months no wigs allowed, this was my season to face and embrace ME. My time to learn to love my natural reflection! The journey began, COVID covered me and allowed me to hide in the comforts of my home. But I still didn’t love it, I still, wasn’t ready to go public. My Sis checked in on me and encouraged me consistently.
Then one day, it clicked, I looked in the mirror .. AND I WAS NATURALLY ME! I loved my reflection! The image of the perfectly layered Brazilian bob was now replaced with this gorgeous curly mohawk and I began to love every second of it!
FINALLY I WAS NATURALLY ME!
Now:

✅I finally Love All of Me
✅I’m Naturally Me!
