Listen to your Heart!

📣 Listen Up 📣

Here’s the thing about feelings, they all matter and they exist for a reason.

Many of our emotions are protectors, they fight to keep us safe.

Others are sirens 🚨, they alert us that we have a need that is being unmet.

Often times we confine ourselves to one end of the emotional spectrum. The other end, we either ignore or resist.

Today, I challenge you to embrace the entire spectrum of emotion and listen to your 💜.

Looks like this:

1️⃣ Listen to the feeling: “Ok anxiousness, I feel you, I’m listening. What are you trying to tell me?”

2️⃣ Honor the feeling ➡️ Identify the need: “Ah, big meeting coming up. I’m intimidated. You are trying to protect me from the pain of failure, embarrassment and/or disappointment.”

3️⃣ Respond to the feeling: “This is happening and I still have to push forward. What do I need? I need to prepare and I need validation. I’ll be sure to put together a solid presentation, have extra notes, consult with colleagues, and get some extra love and support from my people so that I can be cool, calm, & confident. Thank you for alerting me, I’m OK.”

It’s true, emotions make you cry sometimes, but at the end of the day, they are our biggest advocates.

Tune into them all.
